Crankie performance at Mpls Crankie Fest

I was so honored to be invited to be one of the acts at the Minneapolis Crankie Fest last weekend. This was my first ever performance of one of my crankies! (You can see a recording of it here.) It was scheduled right on the heels of the devastation that Hurricane Helene brought to our beautiful town of Asheville, NC. I was grateful to my new Mnpls friends to have a place to stay with electricity and running water, and although I was sad to be away from my community as they started on the road to cleanup and recovery, I was also grateful for the distraction and joy that this crankie fest gave me.

While I still don't think of myself as much of a performance artist, I love being able to share my work in this way. It's so nice to have this kind of interaction and feedback from an audience when I'm used to working alone in my studio. There are still a few details in the crankie that are unfinished, but it should be fully completed in time for my next performance scheduled in January 2025 - stay tuned, I'll share more details soon!
