A playful exploration of proportion in contemporary craft: Our members really showed out for this one! big/LITTLE invites visitors to explore scale, proportion, and storytelling — where small wonders meet monumental ideas. From miniature marvels to oversized installations, this exhibit celebrates the power of size in craft. Discover how our makers think big (and small!) in clay, glass, wood, fiber, and beyond.

Join us for four days celebrating the region’s finest artisans and makers! Over 100 artists will showcase handmade works in clay, glass, wood, fiber, metal, and more. Experience live demonstrations, meet the craftspeople, enter the raffle drawing, and explore one-of-a-kind treasures in artist booths that reflect the enduring spirit of Appalachian craft.

Letterpress: Books and Broadsides workshop at John C. Campbell Folk School, Brasstown NC
Get to know the basics of letterpress printing and hand typesetting to print your own books and broadsides. Learn to set hot lead and wood type, print large broadsides and small books, and to use vintage printing presses. Add images with carved linoleum blocks, then finish the week by binding the small prints together into a book. All levels welcome.

Printed Crankies workshop at John C. Campbell Folk School, Brasstown NC
Crankies are illustrated scrolls in boxes with attached handles that are "hand cranked" to create a moving panorama, inviting the viewer to experience the images like watching a movie. These historic storytelling devices were traditionally used to illustrate ballads sung by traveling musicians as they performed through the Appalachian mountains. Carve blocks to print smaller "personal" crankies as well as collaborate on a single long scroll to create a shared experience.

So excited to be an invited storyteller at the Story Parlor for Story Mixer: Homeland! I'll show prints and talk about the woodcut graphic memoir I've been working for the past 6+ years, about growing up in Taiwan and immigrating to the U.S. when I was 9. I share insights of how my idea what "being Taiwanese" means and has changed for me personally over the years.

I'll be exhibiting at End Paper, a multiday celebration of book arts and print communities at the NC Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC. The NCMA presents over 70 vendors and exhibitors who feature original art books, prints, comics, zines, and more for sale.

I'll also be performing a crankie show at End Paper on Sunday from 1:30-2:30pm! This will be the debut of my newest crankie, Swannanoa Tunnel, performed with musical accompaniment from my friends Jeff Keith and Kevin Kehrberg whose research into this song inspired the crankie.

Letterpress Cards and Stationery
(workshop at JCCFS)
Explore the basics of letterpress printing and hand typesetting, including type composition, press bed set-up, and printing. Cover the basics of cutting and printing from a linoleum block together with text. By the end of the week, design and print a collection of cards and personalized stationery that will add a special touch to your notes and letters.

I'll be performing a selection of my crankies at the John C. Campbell Folkschool to kick off the new year! I'm really excited about this show - I'll be playing alongside special guest Tyler Ramsey who will accompany my crankies as well as play his own music. Make A Crankie! at Atlanta Printmakers Studio
Crankies are illustrated scrolls contained in boxes on dowels with attached handles. These scrolls are “hand cranked” to create a moving panorama, inviting the viewer to experience the images like watching a movie. These historic storytelling devices were often used as full-immersion experiences, filling an entire room with images of far-away lands to create the feeling of going on a journey.

Block Prints in Brilliant Color
(online Course through JCCFS)
Because the September printmaking class filled with a waitlist, we are offering a second class!
Find inspiration in the textures and patterns you see in the nature to create multi-color block prints. Learn how to print in layers of colors made from a single block as well as how to combine blocks in a single composition. You’ll use these blocks to create prints as well as to print patterns that can be used to make personal stationery, patterned fabric, journal covers, and even as wall patterns. Open to individuals of all skill levels.
This class meets online on Tuesday evenings 6-8pm for four sessions.

I'm so excited to participate in "ReClaim the RAD," an exhibit at the CZART Gallery featuring 20+ Asheville artists. These local artists will exhibit their creations on pieces of debris reclaimed from the flood after Hurricane Helene. This show is meant to insprie the community and help artists recover through creations we navigate the future of the arts district in Asheville.
