“Deeper Roots” came out of an exploration of sunsets and sunrises I see every day in the Swannanoa Valley. I once found a small willow sapling growing out of the gutter of my carport and I transplanted it in the backyard by the stream. Knowing that willows love to be near water and will drain it from saturated land, I watch the willow grow. One day, it will be a climbing tree for the neighborhood kids and a respite for the bears, deer, and groundhogs that travel along the stream. In the weeks following Hurricane Helene, I finished the print by adding the quote by Dolly Parton, " Storms make trees take deeper roots."
This print was made from multiple hand carved linoleum blocks. The text was hand set in metal type and printed from a vintage letterpress press.
Limited edition of 40, 12" x 12", each print is signed and numbered. Ships flat in a protective sleeve.
