This is a hand-printed scroll housed in a wooden box with a hand-cranking mechanism, all individually made.
This crankie is about the Cherokee legend of people they called the "Moon-eyed People," a tribe who lived in the Appalachian Mountains before they arrived and long before the colonizers arrived. This story is based on first-person accounts recorded by early explorers and scientists from the 1600s-1800s.
Linoleum cut printed on Japanese Kozo paper, printed in an edition of 30. The type is printed from photopolymer plates. It measures approximately 5" high by 7" wide by 3" deep.
